Thanksgiving is one of our national holidays we take time for in our busy schedules. The traditions that are awesome – pumpkin pie (my wife’s favorite) – cranberries in a multitude of options; not to mention casseroles and dressings. Do we not have Thanksgiving without the turkey?? – fried – smoked – stuffed, -- injected…..well you get it. There’s sooooooo much we can have on that day and yet it’s all about being thankful, not just eating.
Let’s stop and think about this for a moment at the point we started and stay focused. This is about a national holiday; something that is specifically to who we are as a nation -- of all the national holidays we have and observe for other and sundry purposes.
Let’s look at its origin and focus when it started. We had people who had given their lives to establish a nation that we would be free to worship God without persecution; a nation where we could live and pursue life for the purpose to build the Kingdom of God. Our nation is so rich in heritage of God’s word being the very foundation of all our nation documents, songs and traditions. This Thanksgiving let’s keep our focus on what we are to be and should be thankful for and by all means
